Urology
Urology comprises 1 part-time and 5 full-time urologists, as well as 2 full-time pediatric urologists. The Section is based at the two major tertiary care hospitals in Winnipeg's: Health Sciences Centre and St. Boniface General Hospital. Section members provide tertiary care in a wide range of adult and pediatric urological services, including urological oncology, shock wave lithotripsy, endourology, male infertility, insertion of prosthetic urinary sphincters and penile prostheses, and surgical management of incontinence and voiding disorders. Oncology surgery includes major open surgery and laparoscopy, including laparoscopic nephrectomy, pyeloplasty, partial nephrectomy, and radical prostatectomy. Endourology includes endoscopic management of upper urinary tract obstruction and upper tract tumours, as well as the creation of percutaneous nephrostomy tracts for stone removal. The pediatric urologists provide tertiary care in virtually all aspects of pediatric urology, with assistance from the Section's other urologists in their areas of expertise. [more]
